Inbound medical tourism in Russia: problems and their solutions - topic of discussion at the round table in the Federation Council in Moscow on March 29, 2018

29.03.2018 in the Federation Council in Moscow a round table was held on the theme: Inbound medical tourism in Russia: problems and their solutions. The round table was attended by representatives of the Fedearation Council, representatives of the Ministry of Health, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of health tourism associations, representatives of some leading medical institutions in Russia, insurance companies and leading medical tourism agencies.

The event was conducted by Vladimir Igorevich Krugly - member of the Committee of the Federation Council on Social Policy, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation. Dmitry Shatokhin, a member of the Committee of the Federation Council on the Budget and Financial Markets and one of the initiators of the development of the export of medical services in Russia at the state level, delivered a welcoming speech.

A lot of interesting reports on this very important and responsible topic were made at this event. The general director of the company MedicaTour Ltd. Tatyana Sokolov, as one of the leading experts in this field, was also invited to the round table as a speaker. She made a report on the topic: "Problems impeding the development of inbound medical tourism in Russia." It should be noted that despite of many problems that exist today, the export of medical services in Russia is developing and has very good prospects. We have something to be proud of - for example, in Russia ophthalmology, cardiology, IVF, dentistry and plastic surgery are developed at a very high level, and today these directions are most in demand by foreign patients, and the problems available for today will be solved in the very near future. After the event, it was decided to work out concrete steps to solve them.
